I was assigned to design and model a frying pan to have the best ergonomics, lowest price, and more heating uniformity throughout along with my group of 3 other engineering students.

We decided to focus on heat uniformity, and modeled our pan design using COMSOL. Our design consisted of an aluminum upper layer with a coat of copper at the bottom near the edges as copper has a lower heat capacity than steel.We compared our design to a common pan made of just steel and found our design to achieve better heating uniformity throughout the pan.
